I'll give it some thought Dave. I most likely won't know for sure until close to the date. Unfortunately, although I'm about to sploodge a load of wedge on a new motorised velocipede it will not be in-keeping with the theme of the do...but then, fuck it, who cares! Could even go in the van and have a comfy bed – Now there's a thought.

Edit: A link to last years.

Oooh.... a new motorised bicycle....... come on, come on.... what has tempted you to sploodge.....

I rather suspect that would be one of his more "specialised" clients..................:D

I never sploodge when with a client (at least not openly). I am a professional you know! :D

Sploodge material: Well now, I was thinking of a Super Ten but if truth be known wasn't really getting excited by the prospect. After being away for a month on the little Drz I was looking at the big adventure type bikes and thinking 'what the hell is the point'. They (and many other big bikes) have just become absurdly big and unwieldley IMO. Almost like comedy charicatures of bikes. When in Morocco, I would on the odd occasion see a big GS etc coming towards me and think...'Jesus, all you'd need is a wheel at each corner and it would be a car.' Funny how perceptions can change so easily.

I went and visited my dad down in Dorset a couple of weeks ago and my brother was there as well. He had bought himself a new bike a couple of weeks previous and bought it down with him. It was a Triumph Tiger 800 xc. I looked at it and thought 'yeah, that looks nice, a sensible size an all that'. I had a little ride on it the next morning and I was most impressed. What an absolute peach of an engine (800 Triple). It handled nicely, nice riding position. Loads of torque and plenty of power. I thought it was bloody marvellous and probably not too much to handle off road (compared to the likes of a 1200). No rider modes or traction control – which is nice. I did a bit of research when I got home as since having an old T140 Bonnie many many years ago I had never really considered another Triumph. From what I've read of the Tiger 800, it seems they are reliable and generally well thought of.

I went and looked at one yesterday in a dealer (On Yer Bike) but they couldn't even be bothered to wash the thing, tyres worn, dry and filthy chain, no tax so I walked away. There's another one I might go and look at in Wolverhampton on Friday (possibly, if I can be arsed). One thing I had noticed is there are hardly any private sales around anymore. The dealers seem to have everything. I guess because they are quite new.

Sorry about the thread hijack JD but obviously my new wheels are fantastically important. :thumb

By way of an amendment to my previous post. My views reflect my diminutive 5'8" stature. Obviously for other gentlemen of a taller stature (small, medium, large, extra large and lummox :augie ) a motorised velocipede of increased girth is wholly suitable – I have no doubt. Just wanted to clear that up.

what about the triumph dealer near me on the A120 they allways have a good selection in and ususally some demonstraters .

right ok now back on topic please

Is that Ongar Motorcycles?

(Sorry Dave, someone has to liven the thread up. You may have to face the fact that no-one's comin'...soooooo lonely! :D)

Sorry Dave, but it's all about me, me, me!

So, melchy..... fancy a little desert adventure with Tricky and Moi in September?
