Confusing compass display

The Nav V compass screen shows a large red arrow, a small green triangle, and a bearing figure. It seems the red arrow is your current direction, but what is the green triangle for? Sometimes it seemed to correspond to the next waypoint, or the final waypoint in the trip, but yesterday coming north to Calais the green triangle was consistently aligned somewhere over to the west coast of France. Maybe just a bug?

This screen doesn't seem to be documented. Anyone figured out for sure what each arrow, triangle and figure is?
