At 2720 miles the rear Diablo Rosso 2 is shot to bits !

When i say shot i do mean it as metal was just starting to peep through when i got to the tyre fitters !

Suprisingly very very little sqaring off though.

Not a complaint or a moan, as the tyres are very good for grip, just a bit suprised

Might be better with a pair of Pilot Road 4, or Dunlop Roadsmarts? They should be good for maybe 4,000 miles?

I doubt if you would notice much difference in grip levels on the road.

Was thinking the same sort of thing ! although when this one and the front have gone I may try the Bridgestone T30 as they are also one of the OE tyres and have decent reviews but we will see what life others are getting from them.
PR4 are brilliant tyres and I had them on the GSA but I am just not sure how they will stack up grip wise on the XR and of course they are quite a bit more money ( I paid 95 quid delivered for the new diablo and a tenner to have ity fitted)

The T30's on mine are a great tyre, so I'll be sticking with these for the foreseeable.:thumb

The Sports/touring tyres will probably heat up quicker on the road, and maintain their profile better, longer.........

I don't think anything comes close to the PR3/4 or Roadsmarts.

My Rosso 2's also illegal at 2700 miles after a blat around the Alps.....no squareing off, just even wear. For me I thought the feed back was good. My riding pal had Bridgestone's on his SXR and found them poor in the wet with lots of front wheel slides.

Me too mine are at 3600 and reckon at least another 1000 miles left I shall be sticking with the T30 no complaints with grip wet or dry
Oh and I've been giving it some too so far impressed with the mileage so far

So far, I've done 6000 miles on a rear Tourance on my GSA (mainly done touring the alps, etc) and thought about a PR4 next but the mileage seems worse!

That's good going - the first rear tyre on my K1200S was shot in 2300 miles and it looked like new when I bought the bike secondhand with 1500 miles on the clock :p I think it was a Metzler Z1 or similar.

They were replaced by Michelin Pilot Sport which lasted closer to 4000 miles on tour down to the Pyrenees, but had a lot of flex in the carcass when two-up.

After that I ran Avon AV45/46's which lasted well, but lacked a little grip when pushed really hard.

I don't ride as hard nowadays due to all the scamera vans (I need my licence for my job), so I'm sure PR4's would be more than adequate if/when I buy an XR.

If I buy a white one, will the missus notice I've changed the GS? :thumb

New Bridgestone T30 being fitted in the morning 4,500 miles

Well they have fitted a 180 by mistake so a replacement 190 ordered for next week wonder how many miles I can get in before it's changed
