Akrapovic have unveiled the long awaited full system for the R1200 GS. The prototype of this system was originally displayed at the Munich show in September 2004. However, design changes and refinements to the development have delayed the system. They will be available in about 4 weeks.

The distinctive silencer design incorporates carbon fibre heat shields and hanger brackets.

The header set is manufactured from high grade stainless steel and the complex design promotes mid range and peak power, thus not sacrificing drivability. Cans are Titanium.

The complete kit is supplied with carbon heat shields and hanger bracket and saves a massive 4.77 kg over standard, whilst boosting power by a very useful 8 bhp (@ 4,800rpm).

We have asked about the situation with regards to fitting panniers and engine bars, whether any fueling modifications are necessary and if a ROAD system will be made available as this is not clear at the moment.. I cannot see many people wanting a RACE system?

Attached are some images, a download with performance graphs is available from our site.

Perhaps when someone buys and fits one of these systems, they could tour the UK, stopping at pre arranged venues/dates so that every one can have a look and listen at this rare sight.

I can't believe that it puts out 8 more ponies without losing some elsewhere in the rev range
Sounds like it was dyno-jetted

8 is a lot of horses to make in an exhaust.
