Pairing routine

I can't seem to get this setup to repeat fault free every time and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong? I have an iPhone 6, smh5 and the Garmin 590 LM.
Can anyone shed some light on how they do theirs as even though it has been done before and used the pairing on mine doesn't always go smoothly? I must be doing something wrong.

I think I've solved it now and it was as to be expected my fault. Pairing the phone and helmet was causing an issue with getting stuff to work properly with the satnav. By unpairing helmet and phone it all works properly now. Phone to satnav to helmet and I've got full functionality.

You need to unpair the phone and helmet. A common misunderstanding with sat nags, phones and helmets. Now that you have deleted your phone from your lid all should be good.

On a daily basis I only use phone and helmet and when I go abroad I just unpaid the phone for the duration.
