Accessing 'Map' of selected route on device

The standard way is to press the blue bar at the top of the screen, select the drop down menu and press 'map'.

Is there a quicker way? Ideally, I'd like to be able to just touch the screen like I used to on previous sat navs. I can't find a way of using one of the map buttons to achieve this either.

Any secrets I've not picked up on?
