Bike wouldn't start this morning. A 'chattering' sound was heard on pushing the starter. Had no probs with the battery all winter. Started first time even after a month in January. The (very nice) woman at BMW Approved Used Warranties said that batteries WERE covered. After speaking to her I browsed through the small print and see that they are not. Anybody had any experience of battery claims under one of these warranties? I'm waiting for the bloke to come and look at it...

I had mine replaced under warranty after 16 months !

I had mine replaced after 12 months on my 03 GS.

batteries are covered by the original two year warranty offered with a new bike sale but they are not covered by a subsequent extension to the original warranty or by a one year warranty that is provided by a dealer selling an Approved Used machine.

I got one replaced under waranttee with no problems, in fact the garage reccomended it rather than me ask.

Many thanks for your replies. I think, Mark, you've described the essential difference. Looks like I'll have to buy one!
