Tom Tom Rider SatNav

Just read an overview of the imminent Tom Tom Rider SatNav device designed for bikes. It looks appealing. Anyone have any insight as to when it will be available?

Check out the spec.

I had the Tom Tom at Christmas and returned it as the coverage was poor. They have now released three models for cars with varying degrees of map detail in the UK and Europe and if the bike one is equivalent to the basic you may be frustrated.

I would be interested in a comparative review of this new Tom Tom compared to the Garmin. If the Tom Tom has the coverage it was a very nice bit of kit to use.

I use Tom Tom 3 on my PDA and the mapping for each country is very comprehensive, although the "Major Roads Europe" map is very basic so you have to switch to the detailed maps as you cross borders.

The top spec Tom Tom Go has borderless mapping avoid this problem.

Otherwise, the 3-D mapping and other features (e.g. speed camera warnings) make Tom Tom a superior product to Garmin IMHO.
