Anybody tryed one, as a nice chap I met yesterday was willing to sell me his as he did not get on with it.

Got a set on mine, and I think they're brilliant. Used to get aching knees after about 30 minutes, but now I can ride right up to the numb-bum limit.
The pegs touch ground a little sooner, but that's OK.
I think mine were the Verholen set - got them from Motorworks.
