Quick jaunt over the hill to Ahakista and see the Air India memorial. Very moving. I used to camp in that field when I was a kid.

get out in the harbour on at trip to see Cobh from the water, magic

Everything.

Let the boss drive and then you'll get to see everything.
I believe the Beara peninsula is worth the visit Tim Healy pass etc. Also Dursey island I hear the transport from the main land to the island has to be seen to be believed!!

Cork City has the English Market and the Butter Market (ballet centre?). Very interesting.

Garinish Island is a nice way to chill for a couple of hours. Nice short boat trip (lots of seals on the way), beatiful views, and lots of greenery, if either of you have green fingers. Go visit Bantry while you're there. Enjoy, wherever you go!

North of the City

Well actually its not that far fronm the City Center
Theres a Club called angels !
But ! Dont take the Wife or it just might be the BUS back.

ISLANDS

.....Skellig Michael, tho' only when the sea is calm............

Take a trip to Kinsail its a beautiful harbour village just outside cork with some great resteraunts as well.
You also have the Blarney Stone close by which is supposed to be a grand day out.
Finally (and most importantly) you must do a pub crawl down Henry?? Plunkett street. The pubs look small from the front but they are like a tardis inside .

Enjoy your trip

AndyT;)

Henry Ford

Somewhere on the road west there is a small pub which has a lot to do with the Ford Family. I remember stopping there about 12 years ago. It is on the main road itself, you go past the door.
I believe the Fairlane was named after a street (lane?) in Cork city.

Quotations attributed to Henry Ford are:

"Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young".

"Capital punishment is as fundamentally wrong as a cure for crime as charity is wrong as a cure for poverty".

On choice of colour for the Model T Ford "any colour so long as it is black".

"It is not the employer who pays wages he only handles the money. It is the product that pays wages".

"Before everything else, getting ready is the secret of success".

"Exercise is bunk. If you are healthy, you don t need it" if you are sick, you shouldn t take it".

Try Mizen Head - the most southerly point of (mainland) Ireland, also the towns & villages of west Cork - Baltimore, Schull, etc.

Ring of Kerry is spectacular but get out early - or you won't be able to move for tour buses.

Richie would have us believe the Beara is the place to be :D - much quieter than the Ring but equally stunning.

Lastly, if taking sprogs Fota wildlife park is good, apparently :D

Enjoy the craic & chill

..AND

...Kinsail - nice pun that...
& what about Kiltartan, Celt, has to see Kiltartan.

BONNY KILTARTAN

...Yes, indeed, near the airport.
Hope to be @ Ballykeeran this w/e.

Yes - Healy pass is excellent. Was there last week. Here's a pic...

Also, have a wander to Old Head of Kinsale where, as you cant get into the golf club on the end, you can instead check out the amazing cliffs just by its entrance...much better than the over-commercialised Cliffs of Moher IMHO...

Also, if you want to try a bit further North, have a look-see at the Gap of Dunloe just east of Killarney - stunningly beautiful.

TOBERS

...nice pics.
...Ah! yes, the Cliffs of Moher, as if the mess isn't bad enough, the plan now is to build an "Interpretive Centre". No lesson learned from the Mullaghmore debacle. Tourism ? the prostitution of places of natural beauty. Just leave it!

cork
