fitting H&B engine bars

I bought a set of Hepko and Becker engine bars for my 2000 1150 GS and finally got 'round to fitting them - well almost. The bolts delivered for the rear fitting (above footpegs) seem to be the wrong size/thread, they just won't grip. Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas what to do (apart from going back to Motorworks or to my BM dealer and ask them to fiddle around with them) .

Do a search for fitting H&B bars - there's a photo article to help -

You need to jack up the gearbox to align the bolts your having problems with - and i hope you haven't removed both side at the same time

thanks Steptoe - no, didn't remove the aforementioned bolts at the same time, I DID read the health warning . Fitted the bars now, used the ole method, swearing and lots of trying . Martin
