I'm sorting out a tour of scotland in August for me and a few mates.
The route we have planned out so far is,
Start in east lothian then
Thurso
Achiltibuie (where BMW did a photo shoot fore one of their brouchures)
Ullapool
Applecross
Fort William/Glencoe
Inversnaid (finish)
anyone got any other good places or roads we could take?
Looking for some good  as well.

Cheers

Mike

do the Thurso to Durness road (right along the top) then Durness to Ullapool - the best A road in Britain no contest - lots of bends no traffic whatsoever no speed traps (well not usually) From Ullapool keep round the coast through Gairloch, Torridon and particularly Applecross.

For Achiltibuie turn off at Kylesku and do the road round the coast to and through Lochinver - ace twisty single track.

Good pubs - Clachaig in Glencoe, pub by the harbour in Ullapool (top sea food can't remember the name) Plockton Hotel, Pub on LHS as you go through Gairloch (Big wooden thing, can't remember the name - there is a pattern here...) Applecross inn (good campsite also) Sligachan hotel on Skye.

Also try and include the coast road from Fort bill to Oban and Inveraray. Do the road from Arrochar to Faslane - you'll fly

Roll on next Summer

G.C.'s pub The Lochy in Caol, Fort William does a great lunch. :thumb

G.C. knows the Fort William area very well so if you ask him nicely, he'll no doubt be able to help :thumb
