As i had a fairly big off this weekend 50mph plus, the BMW suit did it's job well but allas its F*cked good and proper...........as i have to start again is worth looking a a range of jacket/trouser suits can any body advice ie Aerostitch etc or should i just replace the BMW kit as it's proved it works :nenau

I have Aerostich and BMW - Aren't I the lucky one!

Aerostich is bullet-proof and after 7 years, 60,000 miles and a few off's lookslike new when bashed thru the washing machine with cleaner and waterproofer. A terrific winter and every day suit.

BMW looks lovely and is great for posing and will I am sure protect me in an off but gets dirty very easily and is not as robust as Aero and does not clean as well.

If I had to keep one I'd choose the Aero. :thumb

I'm told that Aerostitch will also repair riding suits damaged in a fall. I prefer my BMW riding gear because of its aesthetics, but if I should have the misfortune of having to "road test" them, my only option would be to buy a new riding suit. :(

By the way, where can you obtain Aerostitch riding gear in Europe? I was under the impression that its not available there.

Graham at GLF has the impressive new Halvarssons suit in stock in a range of sizes.

Paul Varnsverry of http://www.pva-ppe.org.uk/pdv.html has been singing its praises over on uk.rec.motorcycles. Apparently the retail garments are based on a design commissioned by the UK police.

IIRC the price is comparable to Aerostitch or top of the range BMW gear.

GLF also do the well regarded MJK range of leathers/fabric gear. This can be made to measure if you are not an off the peg shape.

I've heard so many glowing reports about the service at GLF that I will probably be making a pilgrimage to Bedfordshire in the Spring as my leathers are due for replacement.

There are other UK dealers for the Halvarssons kit listed ontheir website inc. one in Dudley & another in the Forest of Dean (I know this dealer well and can't imagine them stocking many £600 suits!)

I've also got BWM kit (Streetguard Trews and jacket) and a 'stich roadcrafter suit.......since I got that, I've only worn the BWM kit once.

The 'Stich is so easy, convenient and feels so right that I love it to bits.....The BWM kit is good, tough and is actually very good value for money when you look at how long it lasts (despite the initial high cost) but for me, if I lost or damaged my 'Stich, I'd get another as soon as possible.

RED & WHITE ONE.

It does Santa travelling at mach 4,5, cruising at 30,000..wind chill factor?????????

When he drops down yer stack, ask him where he got it from.

I got a Halvarssons Safety suit after reading Paul's reports on ukrm last year.

It's a superb bit of kit. I think it'll be more like £800 than £600 though. But as I expect mine to last ten years and possibly longer, good value.

And unlike the stuff for the same price from BMW, Rukka and others, it's passed CE tests at Level 2 & SATRA Level 3 which makes it equivalent to a high quality leather suit from BKS or Hideout & much better than Level 1 leathers from Dainese, Alpinestars etc.

As to Jofama being untried as someone up there ^ mentioned, when I ordered mine I had to wait three months because the factory was working flat out to fulfil a "major order from UK Police" so there are lots around in the UK, just not on the civvie market.

I had my suit made by Aerostich in Minnesota - see www.aerostich.com - they are incredibly helful. I needed a new zip on the leg after 50k mies and was in the us on biz so took it with me and TNT's it from my office. It was back within 3 days - cost $5 plus courier charge! I guess you could do the same from here and I would recommend only using Aerostich for repairs.

60,000 miles - £600 - erm thats erm er 1p per mile! And it looks like new!
