Just picked up my brand new 1200 yesterday, silver. Love it already and can't wait to get that bad boy DIRTY :bounce1 .

I've read a lot of the posts about top boxes breakin or falling off.
Mine seems to have an extra support to wish the box is now bolted on, is this how bee em fixed the problem, 'cause now you can't easily remove the box to carry your luggage in.

Anyhow, hello and thank you.

Welcome....even if you have got one of them troublesome new-fangled 1200's :)

Hello from one newbie to another. Collecting my 1200GS today as well - very excited. Hoping for good weekend to try it out as I am sure you are too.

Enjoy!

Cool, nice to see a few other Sethafricans round here. :)

The top box should not be bolted on. The "new improved" version has a small rib on the underside near the lach that the old one didn't have ... do a trawl through the archives, this was discussed recently and there were some very good pics posted. Bolted on sounds like the dealer is trying a fast one - not sure I would accept that.

FWIW, I have had one of the "old" top boxes on for 7000km, never fallen off.

Cheers, Dale (also a newbie)

Groenie, how has your weekend been with the new bike???

Regards Mudplugger ( ALSO NEW COMER)

The bolt onto which the panniers sit needs to be set to a height which gives a snug fit (gives compression onto the two outer lugs) and needs to be loctited to make sure it stays put.
