Memory map V's Garmin mapping

Can anyone tell me the likely benefits of Memory map over the Garmin proprietary maping for my 2610 or my eTrex Vista.

In particular around green laning and maping tracks of unsealed routes.

The second half of my question is how simply can you manage data between the two.

You can't load Memory Map maps into a Garmin GPS but you can download and upload tracks and waypoints between your GPS and MM and Mapsource etc.

So you could plan a route using MM by making a series of waypoints, upload the waypoints to your GPS and use the goto/find feature of the GPS to follow your "route".
