my 94 R100GS has developed an intermittant fault on L/H (only) indicator. it usually, but not always turns itself off at (usually) low engine revs.

i've checked it out in the workshop & am unable to decide what causes the problem. it only ever does it when the engine is running, & only on the L/H side.

does anyone know if this is a symptom of a failed flasher unit or is it as a result of lowish charge rate. voltage rise at battery is 13.53v @ 4000 RPM.

as it's only affecting one side, i tend to think the flasher unit is at fault. problem doesn't seem dependant on load.

i want to avoid buying a £45 flasher unit if it's not going to sort it though.

Someone say flasher ...?

I know it sounds daft, but check your alternator.

I have heared that dodgy brushes can cause voltage spikes on and play electronic gremlins with the indicators.

Good luck,

Mike.

done that. seemed ok.

i think the regulator may be doing something similar. testing it seems to indicate it fluctuating wildly.
