This is the USA site & the usual yank crap of naming the models one year in advance of the rest of the world!
The yanks believe they are getting 'next years kit' a year before anyone else (dare I say - another example of their amazing arrogance! ).
There have been a few threads on this topic before I think and they won't be swayed from their beliefs!

No different though to the practice that magazines use in this country where the July editions will be published at the end of May.
As for GS 2003 models there were two - single & twin spark. My bike is a 2003 model even though I bought it in November 2002.
