Anybody know if a EU driving licence is good for the USA..any body been stopped and asked over there..

Yes if you're not going to be staying.
I think it's 12 months to get a US licence (or license, as they call it) but I suspect it may vary state to state.
I've never had any problems with a UK licence (or with an RAC provided International Licence).
