"Buffer Overruns" whilst downloading from SP3

Does anybody have any idea why I get a "Buffer Overrun" warning on my PC everytime I try and transfer data to and from my StreetPilot3 to my Laptop?

The laptop is running Windows 98, has the latest edition of Mapsource (V4.20), has Palm PDA software installed on it but everything is switched off.

Yet, when I use a PC at work, everythign works as it should.

I've tried the Garmin Tech Support but all they can recommend is that I ensure that the Palm S/W is switched off.

Help! I don't really want to spend anymore time than I have to at work .... and I'm desparate to plan my route to Belgium for the world record attempt next weekend!!

I had the same problem with my laptop which is connected to a HP Journada handheld. Garmin gave me the same advice, which I must say worked fine.

I went through the ctrl/alt/del list and closed evrything I didn't need, but I now seem to have isolated the problem to a file called Wcescom, closing this make everything work fine.
