Reliability of ally wheels if used off road

Hi,

I want to do some off roading on my 1200, would it be ok so simply put TKC's on the OE ally wheels? Or would I be asking for trouble because they are too ridgid.

If it is that I will need spoked wheels, what can I expect to pay for a used set, prefferably with discs (as It's a lot easier and quicker to swop a set of pads than to keep changing the discs)

Mild off-roading should be fine on alloys - plenty of GSer's do.

It won't be easy to find a set of secondhand wire wheels. Crash damaged bikes tend to have wrecked wheels !

A set went on ebay recently for £500 !! (I was out-bid)
