On startup from warm, my engine is very rattly for about a second or so, unitl the oil has been pumped out to the heads. Then it's fine.

Is this normal, or should I be chasing BMW?

1150GS. 6 months old. 3000 miles.

Cheers

Yep, my last two GSs did it............strange init;)

Least you know that the oil is flowing cause it shuts up after a couple or three seconds:p

Normal I would say.................for a GS anyway:)

HA! that fooled him I reckon his engines knackered, probably throw a rod soon he, he.:grndevil

Sounds expensive

Desperate sucking of air through teeth! GONNA THROW A ROD FOR SURE.
Get it in the dealers pronto before the old rattler shakes it self to pieces.

Seriously it is just the oil getting up to the valve operating mechanism, and then it goes quiet.....ish.

You know that BMW look in on this web site.... they must be pissing them selves with all these owners cacking their pants with worry about the RATTLES, CLUNKS,CLINKS, FARTS,PUTTS etc.

Hey Kestler did you really fit under size pistons to that last GS engine?

Nien... But I did fit undersized piston rings ...Ja is good joke to play on those Brit worry guts...

Oh, oh and I put in the bent push rods to, just for that extra vibration.... and still they buy these bikes.
