hi all,

bought a 2610 a few days ago and its great,

after reading a few threads about mapsource having a bad user interface i was a delighted to find its actually fantastic :)

the track function, whats it do?

does it autoroute you back down a road with voice/visual guidance?

id go out and try it but its blowing a gale outside :D

The tracking function records a bread-crumb trail of where you have been, recording regular sets of co-ordinates based on intervals you set up in the GPS. Tracklogs can then be used to negotiate back to your starting point, following the recorded track points.

Many people save and share their tracklogs, so other can use them (see the stickies at the top of this page).. There are also a number of other interesting things that you can do with tracklogs, such as:
1) Sharing popular routes as tracklogs (GPX is a good format), for things like mountain hiking, green laning, etc.
1) Geo-tagging: comparing your tracklog, to the date and time a digital photo was taken, to show you exactly where you were when a particular photo was shot.
2) Plotting using Google Maps, Google Earth or some other simillar interface, to publish a route on an interactive map.

Here's some tracklog / geotagging stuff I was messing around with before:

It's a very powerful feature, if you spend the time to play around with it!
