Sorry, I can't really help with your question but I thought you may like to know my iBook, Airport and ntl broadband work great:D

Russ.

Not sure what you're trying to achieve exactly but if you want to network the 2 machines you'll need a cheap hub and a copy of PC Maclan. This allows the mac to be seen as a networked device by the PC.

We use it at work on all our PCs being that we're a mixed environment.

doh!

sorry like I said , not got a clue.
Wot I,m after is a wirless network with both i book (osx 10.2)
and pc (running ME) being able to use the internet, printer and share files etc, as the pc is in the loft wirless would be easier ?

Airport and wifi are the same thing, both based on the same 802.11 standard and they interoperate ok.

Hardware you will need to buy ...

A wifi wireless card for the pc

An airport card for the mac

A wifi enabled dsl router

Microfilters, one for each phone extension (get them with the dsl router)

There is a tool at http://www.dslsource.co.uk/wireless_networking.asp to help you price it up (less the airport card)

That little lot will get the computers talking and give you internet access on them both.

Windows file and printer sharing is built into macos X, go into system preferences, internet and network, sharing. Never tried this myself but cow orker says it works.

Service provided are ranked/rated at http://www.dslguide.org.uk/. I personally like zen internet, but they are a customer of the company I work for so I'm not totally impartial.

If that isn't clear or you have other questions either bang them here or mail me.

thanks for the info, just waiting for conformation and switch on of bb, then will get the gear, got to be a improvment on dial up coz its crapppppp?

I just bought an iBook and wireless access point, I have to say I love it :D

Contradicting my advice to you I bought the access point from http://www.dsl-warehouse.co.uk/ , paid for next day delivery and sure enough it turned up as expected.
