off road tyres

has anyone got any experience of trelleborg tyres at all? i contacted trellesport uk to see if they had anything which would fit an 1150gs. apparently they have an "army special" which is road legal. dimensions are 4.75" x 17", rear. is this any use?

they don't seem to have anything suitable for the front. however, at under £40 just a rear would be something. i've discovered that the tkc80's wear out much faster off road than on!!! got 3500 miles out of this rear (lots of off road), as opposed to 6000 for the last (gibraltar and back).

failing that, has anyone got any bright ideas for a purely off-road tyre?

You need a tubeless tyre for the GS, which limits your choice to either the TKC80 or Metzeler Karoo. You can't fit a tube-type tyre onto a rim designed for tubeless tyres, even though they may be the same size.

The Karoo is a pure off-road tyre, so it won't grip well or last long on tarmac. Perfect for desert racing etc.
