View Full Version : unkown thingy
I was was cleaning my r1150gas today and noticed above the preload adjuster there was a what i can only describe as a drain plug type thing underneath what i suppose is the battery box, is it a drain plug to lef water out of battery box?
It's not the battery box...the battery is under the tank right in the centre of the bike...lift your seat off and you can see it there.
The box you're talking about is the air box.......and yes, it's a drain plug, turn the plug and pull it down to open it.
It's useful to check occasionally, 'specially after a service or changing engine oil, 'cos if there's been too much oil put in, that's where it initially goes and you can drain it.
You should also check it if you drop the bike in a river when fording....
1200's don't have them, which makes it another reason that your bike is far superior to the young pretender model ;) :thumb2
It's the drain plug for your airbox.
If you ever overfill with oil, it'll get chucked into the airbox . The plug enables you to drain it out, or water,or whatever else gets into your box .
Useful after cleaning the bike
