Hi Guys
Looks like its normal practice to start with a first post to introduce one's self, so hello and please go easy on me :)
Just bought a 2000w 1150. tried one first in spring 2000, but the lack of 8k and 6month waiting lists meant an R11RS was all I could run to. This bike led to my handle of BMWDUMPTRUCK. You'll no doubt guess I wasn't to impressed, but thats another story. The Blackbird followed for the next 3 yrs, which is up for sale in the spring, unless I can pay off lots of my newly increased credit card balance by then. I may then be able to persuade madam that theres plenty of room in the garage for both as well as her GPZ and my old CBR6.
Decided in Decmeber that the Bird is just to easy to ride, almost boring, so went for my third test ride on a GS, flashed the plastic before common sense prevailed and collected her in early Jan. (A mate that bought one new in 2000 reckons common sense has only just prevailed :) )
Just starting to get the hang of her, she's turning me into a hooligan already :)
Shame the dealer hasn't set her up right though, and she wasn't exactly valeted, but I should be used to that as they didn't do it to the RS either. Better not mention names as I'll be relying on them for servicing and warranty work for the next 12mths. Guess I'll just have to re-learn the art of fettling the twin
Was planning yesterday to try out the 37 page manual on setting up the valves that I downloaded from here last week, but a mate rang up offering a ride, so we went out for a play instead. Aparently flames come out the back as it backfires on the overrun :) :spitfire
Anyway, better go, dinners nearly here.
Look forward to chewing the fat with you all.
