hello - in proper blue peter stylee -- just picked up this great little 'cut out and keep' diagram from the micapeak site. its for the r1100 gs, can anyone confirm that it applies to the r1150 as well?
and boy what a difference removing it makes! My Adventure is more responsive and much nicer to ride with this code plug removed.
Don't forget if you do remove it, you need to reset the throttle position sensor (TPS). You reset it like this:
Engine off
Remove the code plug (relay 3 in Quattro's pic)
Remove fuse 5 for about 20 seconds & then re-insert it
turn the ignition on
twist the throttle grip 4 times fully open/fully closed
start bike & go for a ride
Enjoy the difference. The only downside is my fuel economy isn't as good - but with such a performance increase, it doesn't worry me
As far as I know -yes. If you dont do it, the motronic fuel mapping isn't optimized. When I fitted my spotlights I disconnected the + battery terminal and forgot to reset the TPS. The bike felt lethargic and I thought I'd somehow cocked something up -it took me a while to figure out that the throttle sensor needed re-calibrating.
It only takes a minute so it's not really a problem to do.
