Why do I need an audible alarm to tell me my indicators are on, when they'll self cancel after 300 yards or so?

must be me but the green flashin light at each side o the clock consoul tells me the winkers are still on, then ye got t remember to press the dam cancle button on the right handlebar assembly wiout takin ye eyes of the road.
gets confusin, the japs had it rite ,on off cancle left hand side easy.
me mates got one of those self canclin doohickys, but that takes all the fun out ov it.
