1200 Battery Failure and BMW Service Failure

I'm interested to hear why you think BMW should have a new battery provided to you, wherever you are, at any time of the day/night?

Should BMW get a spares department to open up on a Sunday and get you a battery delivered to you at the roadside?

It's interesting as I work in a support role and am on a rota where I could be sent to anywhere in Europe/Asia/Africa at a moments notice, if the customer's willing to pay, that is. So the and me get handsomly renumerated and the customer gets help as soon as in passibly practical.

Would you have paid for some Belgian to drop everything, head into work, open up the spares dept, get a battery and deliver it to you on a Sunday? I think it would be a nice option to offer, although the price/benefit of a £400 battery would deter most.

I hope it happens to you, nice and early on a Sunday morning, when getting somewhere is really important to you, then you can answer your own question. Oh, and btw, it's 'handsomely', 'remunerated' and 'possible':D

This was in my 'neck of the woods' - somewhere around Macon. Whether the motorcycle service is any better I will try and ascertain.

Thanks Brian, I'd be interested to hear what's what in the Macon area. Out of interest Macon happens to twinned with Crewe & Nantwich which is my 'neck of the woods'.

I had a shorted coil in Nice on a Saturday evening, just as the bike shops shut. It happens...

My 'epxectations' just do'nt rize to the level yorz doz .

And as I aksed earier, whats ackertually writ inthe kontrakt?

Extract From Handbook

"BMW Motorrad Service Card: On the-spot breakdown assistance
In the event of a breakdown the BMW Service Card issue with each new BMW Motorcycle enables you to access an extensive range of services such as breakdown assistance, motorcycle transportation etc. (details can differ from country to country). In the event of a breakdown, contact BMW Motorrad's Mobile Service. The specialists will provide the necessary advise and assistance."

I does mention "extensive" and "details can differ from country to country" it doesn't mention days of the week or time of day. Therefore the "details can differ from country to country" plays no part in this, if my bike could be fixed on a monday then, according to this, it should be fixed on a sunday.

It doesn't mentioned you will be on your way in 2 hours with a fixed bike either.

I know exactly how it feels as I've experienced this a while back. But OTOH I think your expectations are simply unreal.

They will help. They will get YOU where you want, without the bike. And they will eventually fix the bike. But they will do it according to the normal schedules and opening hours which in some cases means you have to wait for several days.

That's much better, but just keep that dictionary handy in future:D

A bit patronising?

"That's much better, but just keep that dictionary handy in future" Is he a dustman - or a brain surgeon? He has given himself away!

I was coming home from TT05 on my KTM Duke and got a puncture 10 miles from home(20.00 on Sunday).Phoned RAC and they said a Patrol would attend.A Sub-Contract Recovery Truck arrived with instruction to "Recover to Members Home or Place of Repair".While loading bike up,an RAC Patrol passed by without stopping. I got taken home.I called RAC and asked why Subby was sent-
"No Patrols available".
What about the one that passed me?
"It was on its way to another situation".
Why was no attempt to repair made?
"We do not like Sub-Contractors doing Tyre Repairs".
How the F%CK do i get my Tyre repaired or replaced when the Bike is unrideable?
"Er,Er,Not too sure,Sir.Can you sort it?"
No i Bloody can't so get a Patrol out to me to repair Tyre or take Bike to get it fixed !
Another Recovery Unit from same Subby turned up and took me to Central Wheel for ,as it turned out,a new Tyre.Phoned RAC to inform them and got told;
"Today's Recovery was done to appease for previous mix-up.It is not the sort of thing that would normally be offered."
Rather than argue any further,I cancelled my Membership there and then.

Recovery SERVICE ????? I think you get Service in proportion to the Sh*t that you throw into the fan when they try to Fob you off !
