Just about to drag muself into the modern biking world and start to use an Ipod on the bike, what do others do??

Charge it at home??

Use a car based charger and connect straight across the battery (ish i've got a centec fuse panel)??

Do you keep the IPod in your pocket and then plug the charger in when its needed or do you mount it all on the bike and just plug your haed set in??

Do you need to adjust the volume on the move or could you set and forget??

Or is there the ultimate set up where you can adjust the volume or switch it off from the handlebars?

I stick in my jacket pocket and use ear phones and an airclick to adjust volume and skip tracks.

I power my pod off the Bike using one of these... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BELKIN-AUTO-K...ryZ67832QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It doubles as an amp if the output of the ipod isn't enough for your intercom...

I have it plugged into something similar to these ... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Dual-Twin...3QQihZ008QQcategoryZ15329QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
You could take your power off the 'Centec' after snipping the Plug end off..

To control the ipod, I have one of these hanging out of the Tankbag...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Universal-Rem...7QQihZ018QQcategoryZ84082QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

or one of these, depending on which ipod you have... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wheel-Remote-...4QQihZ005QQcategoryZ79877QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

When I use(d) a ipod I just stuck it in a pocket with ear phones running out. If it needs a charge before the end of the day, I have a BMW/DIN to CIG lighter converter for the standard USB charger....but battery life is pretty good. I don't fiddle with the volume....but that means it's never perfect I suppose as the music is recorded at different levels and the normalization feature isn't great either. It rains too often around here for me to try and actually mount it.

I have since converted to using my Zumo as a music player...... with a 4GB card...it's pretty good. I simply routed a 3.5mm extension lead so it pokes out between my seat and tank....I just tuck it under the seat when I'm not touring.

Which earphones to use has been a bigger problem as I seem to have tight ear canals.....(no jokes here)..... so I splurged at the Hograost and bought some "ridiculously expensive" Ultimate Ear monitors....can't wait to get them.

I've did exactly the same at the weekend, but they are expensive, as you say, lets hope they are worth the money. I've got some good ideas from the replys, thanks chaps:clap

i put my ipod in my LHS hip pocket of my HG textile jacket.

You can change tracks - fwd and back - from the outside. Use a cover with a defined circle cut-out to orient yourself.

Volume means hand in pocket - but do-able.

Can't watch video like this though :D
