Just acquired this rather scratty looking drz400 (from Possu) to start my trail riding career in earnest. Although it looks a bit tatty, it rides well and seems to have the right bits sorted out, with a nice Acerbis tank, stainless spacers, sump guard, etc, plus a box of bits with a kickstart conversion, and a new Ti zorst of some sort. I know that this is the "banana forks" model but at the moment it's a lot more capable than I am. Had a few miles yesterday round the lanes here and I really like the power delivery, lots of low down, and also quite soft so as not to get me into trouble. Plus I dropped it into a "water feature" that was rather deeper than anticipated, at the bottom of which was 62 of mud with the consistency of treacle and the smell of pig slurry. . So I was very grateful when it started 1st time!
Next investment I think will be a tow bar and trailer, as I'm not over keen on going too far on the road on it, really. And I am not, under any circumstances, blinging it up with a load of aftermarket extra's. If I get good enough to tell the difference I'll get another bike.
And to those who say it's heavy - after hauling my gs12 up I picked this up and it felt like I was going to throw it over the hedge
Looking forward to getting out on some lanes:
ps - does anyone know where I can get new mirror...:
