Sorry but am I the only one who gets a 0Kb file?

Apart from the technical problems, what a great idea! I'd be more than happy to add to the file.

Gerry; If you want to e-mail me the file I'd be happy to put it on my server for other people. I could create some pages where people can add wpts and receive updates online.

I thought I was just being dim again. When I tried to open it, my computer asked what application I wanted to link it to. Naturally, being at the Fisher-Price computing level, I did not know what I should do. As it looks like a VERY useful file - I would appreciate an idiot's guide to downloading it.

SpeedCameraWaypoints -2

will try posting the file again?

I assume it's a Garmin Mapsource file.

i.e. if you ain't got a GPS, it ain't much good to you.

Steve.

Thats just it Steve, I have Garmin's Mapsource on my PC and it still thinks its a media file - i'll open up Mapsource and try and open it manually there.

Regards, Andy

Can the file be saved and then posted in a different format.

Yes, it can be EXPORTED from the file menu of Garmin's Mapsource software. Quite a good way of distributing this kind of info because users of non-garmin products can use the waypoint info too with a little tweaking.

Very dim question, but how does one load it into ones saved maps or something?

Cheers

Think I've cracked it....

Download the file (I saved it in My Documents), then open Garmin Mapsource and click on 'Open'. Select the file from My Docs & it will appear as a waypoint list. Download this to your GPS or memory chip.

It worked for me anyway....

Andy,

Set Mapsource as standard program to open .MPS files :

Depending on your windows-version it can be a bit different then
the way to do that in XP:

- Open Explorer (Press "Windows" and "E" key at the same time)
- Choose "Tools" - "Folder Options"
- Choose Tab "File Types"
- Browse to .MPS and select it
- Click on "Change"
- IF Mapsource is present in the list of programs choose it.
otherwize click "Browse" and browse to the Mapsource exe-file
and open it...

Good luck!

Worked a treat!

Thanks for that Zwerver,

Having looked at the file-associations list it seems real player has got a bit carried away with itself - it seems to have associated itself with nearly everything!!
