Thought I'd start a thread so Powerscaff can keep an eye on the progress:)
Collected it a couple of weeks ago but not really made that much progress yet. My priority is to get it on the road and sorted mechanically to mess about on over the summer then I'll strip it and do the cosmetics during the winter months.
When it landed..

Not looking that much different but has been run for 15 minutes or so to check the water pump etc out. The exhaust was blowing like a good un at the manifold though. Had a few stainless fastners fitted too.......

As of today, (left my camera at home but again not much change) new chain and sprockets fitted, new manifold nuts and gaskets fitted, big bag of stainless fastners fitted, longer brake hoses and clutch cable fitted. Ran out of time as I'm on nights but am now itching to get it fired up again for a run up the roa errr private drive:D

Hopefully not that far from MOT able now:) once it's running and tested it'll be off to the local dyno centre for dynojetting and tuning on the rollers.
It's been geared down and will soon have a quick action throttle fitted for entertainment purposes:D

Funny I was just looking at one like yours yesterday at a local bike meet - the original and best Blade. Had one too and still have fond memories. Good luck with the project :thumb2

Cheers Trev:thumb2
Always liked the early blades but banned myself from sports bikes so this seemed a good compromise:aidan

Ain't fighters BRILLIANT?

I am in the middle of a wee project on my Suzuki TL1000s. Not far away from being on the road and should be a hoot!!

Get some pics up then:aidan Where are you getting your parts from? There seems to be more fighter related stuff in the states which is annoying considering the scene started over here.

The blade won't fire up now:( a couple of the plugs seem goosed so I'm hoping thats all it is). Hopefully it'll be ready for a MOT next week, then I've just got to fettle the suspension, graft on some clocks, get a seat sorted, get the engine painted, get the frame and swingarm anodised, and the list goes on:p Enjoying masel but want to play on it now the summers here.

Here you go. Still a bit of work to do but getting there. Not had to buy too many parts for her yet but you are right, loads of good bling in the US of A.

Ain't fighters BRILLIANT?

I am in the middle of a wee project on my Suzuki TL1000s. Not far away from being on the road and should be a hoot!!

Had my tl1000s for 2 years and wish i had kept it, traded it in for my first gs.
Good luck with your project.

Tailpiece is from a late model Yamaha R6 and I really don't want to ruin the look by sticking on a numberplate!! Had thought about a side mouted plate but not sure.

Fitted some new plugs and it fired straight up. Runs smooth with the exhaust properly sealed too. Had a quick blat on it this aft. I've gone down 1 tooth on the front sprocket and up 2 at the back, feck it's lively:D

Thats good to hear. I have opted for the 'frisky' gearing on mine also as I don't really see myself hanging on at silly speeds for too long. It's all about pulling big wheelies outside the chippy. :)

Cheers for the pics guy's:thumb2
Single sided swingarm looks nice but that orange lump looks ferkin awful:eek:

Had a full day on it yesterday, Started out intending to fill the forks with oil then sort out all the electrics and fit the lights and computer. No bother thinks I, I'll be practically MOT ready by tea time. However..................................
The head bearings were a bit tight so I thought I'd have a look. They'd obviously been assembled dry but after a couple of years of being laid up they were a bit rusty:eek: Trip to the bearing shop soon sorted them:thumb2
Next the pogo sticks. Decided to go the whole hog seen as though they were out and replace the seals too (ordered in advance just in case, one of my better decisions:D).

By the time I'd done that lot it was 2.30 so 5.5 hours, not the 20 minutes I'd allocated to top up the fork oil:p. Mental note, must get a headstock mounted paddock stand.
Now for the shiny stuff.

I managed to get the headlights and indicators on and working and fitted a 6 way connector block to the loom that will connect to the idiot lights on the computer.
I got all the wiring stuff from a mail order place called vehicle wiring products. They sell all the oe type connector blocks and terminals so I can modify the loom and keep it looking original (ish) without a nasty blue crimp terminal in sight:nono
Out on the peddley iron today but hopefully will get a bit more done later.
I'm aiming to get it MOT'd next weekend then down to the dyno centre the week after.
Had another idea for paint last night. I still intend to get everything alloy anodised black but wondered about getting one side of the bike black and the other side white with a silver stripe right down the middle seperating the two halves:nenau
Oh yeah, I ordered the quick action throttle yesterday too, zero to fulll throttle in 60 degrees!

Had another full day on it yesterday. I'm amazed how longs it's taking to sort the wiring out, there's not been that much to do but it's taken ages. Nearly finished now mainly tidying up and sheathing the loom to finish it off.
Got the computer on yesterday and re-fitted the centre section of exhaust (after welding). Got the new throttle unit on so will give it a run up today and see what thats like:D
The headlights and indicators are on but I'm still waiting for the fly screen and rear indicators from germany.
I'll take my camera today and get some more pics. After over 30 hours spent on it so far it still doesn't look that much different:eek:

Still waiting for the screen but it's ready for test now:clap
Had a proper test ride yesterday and found it won't rev past 6K. Pulls strong untill then but then misses as if it's on the limiter. First is really savage, it's the only road bike I've ridden that feels as aggressive as a race prepped CR500 I used to have:D Can't wait till it's redlineable:eek::D:D
I've fitted the smallest (tamest) cam inside the throttle housing which isn't that much differen't from the stock one. With the short gearing it would be lethal with the quicker acting cams.
Going to see if I can sort the miss fire this afternoon but if I can't it's going to the dyno center for them to sort as well as tune. Getting impatient to play on it now:p
