None of the bmw dealers are quoting prices for the g450x

How much did you pay for a new one ?

I might be tempted by a second hand one :thumb2
 
Mine was just under GBP6k on the road. I think list is GBP6.1ish OTR however the weak GBP to Euro may mean a price rise for 2009. They are certainly good bikes, I am hoping for another 50 miles of forest and beach either today or tomorrow on mine :D

I have not seen any second hand ones yet but I have not looked as I was thinking of selling mine and no doubt the prices would only hack me off. The good news for me at least is riding it makes no huge difference to my neck/back and shoulders, they ache regardless :thumb

Second hand BMW off road bikes have mega depreciation - cue.......... XChallenge (new £6100 RRP, discounted to about £4k and anything between £2k-£3.5k) & HP2 (new £11500 and can be had now for £6-7k)

2008 ex school bikes are selling via Vines for £2695

They are good bikes and worth the money
 
The killer for the 450X is the 70 hour service, I wonder how many people will skip it, void the warranty and wait until it blows?

I have a 4Banger Mont HRC trials bike and it should have had 3 pistons by now, according to the service plan

Typically for a HRC factory Honda, it just purrs along and is sweet
 
Next service for me is 30 hours with no signs of any issues so far (Early days though) Oil is always cleaner than it would be on my Husaberg or KTM and despite the abuse I have handed out the bike has performed brilliantly. I do wonder how much a new engine would cost, the 70 hour via BWM is around 1500/1600 quid, so if I skip the service and it gets to 140 hours and goes bang I have a theoretical 3k for a new engine. Right now the 70 hour service is outside of my capability as so many specialised tools are required.

There was talk of BWM extending the big service interval and still keeping the warranty for bikes that were not raced but I am yet to see that confirmed and would doubt it would happen.

They are a nice ride, though the maintenance for some is excessive, and as mentioned, this 70hr service is total overkill...... and in my eyes has stolen loads of potential buyers away from BMW.
It is marketed as a competition enduro bike, though that 70hr interval and it's content moves it into F1 realms........:D
As a trail bike, it's a beauty and a few tweeks makes it 'yours' for sure.

Oh, and best of all....... it's not orange.:barf

A ho9nda crf450x als has a 70 or 80 hours new piston etc... but most people i know ride more then 140-150 hours beforre splitting the engine.
 
The DVD is at home but from memory it includes new valves, piston and crank bearings amongst other things, maybe someone else can post some details

I do remember the BM guys said price wise the parts are the same cost as KTM parts and the 4 valves are GBP100 each.

Bet lots get sold with about 65 hours on them (or as you say above, people just skip the service...)
 
I thought i says, check/inspect the valves and piston , crankbearings...etc...
when needed then change.(there are parameters given i thought).

So i've youre nice to youre bike you only have to split it and check it and put it back together with some packings. but the manhoure will count up.
I will check the dvd
