Reference the bikes; there is a free car park to the rear but it can get a bit 'blowy'. There is also parking in the main square but i think that has to be paid for before 1800hrs. However, my best new mate Matti , did say there is a yard to the rear of the property and if was not being used for anything else and as long as we didn't block fire escapes etc. we could put bikes in there. Regards, Kevin
Sounds good. Put me down for a bed as well (and a space at the back for me bike).

    cheers

This is where i'll be staying, not married to Sundays choice and haven't researched Skye yet but if you want to join me that would be great!
All these sound fine to me and I'm happy to stay there too. Are you making a group booking or should we call individually and book??

    Portree

I'm in agreement with HRH, Matti at the hostel also indicated that the bikes will be safe enough - never meant to cause any offence to anyone, just a habbit trying to park the bike in as secure a place as possible. I'm fairly confident we will get bikes into the back yard, I'll just have to check how many it holds. If we can't get them all in I'm sure they will be ok in the main square which immediately outside the hostel.
At £14 a night and having stayed there before, it's a deal. + I'm only looking for a bed and a shower.

    Block Bookings!

is someone doing a block booking or are we to book individually ?
I've been trying to think of the best way to organise this which is quite tricky!!
I can't assume that everyone wants to do as I do so I propose that we start some sort of list, those on the list by the end of this month I will block book for certain days (not the hotel days). Just quote the following but add your name below mine if you want to for the individual days, we can take it from there! What I am trying to avoid is overbooking places if that makes sense!!

Saturday Night - Lochside at Castle Douglas

    TDN

Sunday Night - Nydie Camping and Caravan site at Strathkinness

    TDN

Monday Night - Premier Inn at Inverness

TDN (Happy to share a room with someone)

Tuesday Night - Durness Caravan Park

    TDN

Wednesday Night - Gairloch Caravan Park in Strath

    TDN

Thursday Night - (Thanks to JKM) Hostel in Portree

    TDN

If anyone feels we would benefit from staying somewhere different then please say!

As you know the only place i've decided on is in Portree. I will follow your lead with the other stops. Sound the muts nuts & look ideal sites, with everything we need, Pubs, grub, pubs. Thanks for the research mate

When camping do you intend to 'eat out' at each location? Just thinking of the gear to be taken

    Cheers

No problem. It's the 'Quote' button on the bottom right (instead of Reply).
