The tank on my 90/6 was stoved in by a scrote who couldn't start the bike when he stole it.

Anybody got any ideas or know anybody who can sort it out for me?

I wouldn't have thought that would be a problem for any decent bodyshop and not overly expensive.

fill it full of water, block any escape holes, put it in the chest freezer, when the water freezes it expands , and will pop out the dint to its original form..:thumb2

iv seen this done with dinted down pipes, on a internet linky some wear.

it worked down pipes , not sure about tanks .

up to you , will take no responsibility if ye tank explodes:D

Two Stroke Pipe Dents can be removed. The "freeze method" is where you fill the pipe partially with water, when the water freezes, it expands, and can have an effect on removing the dent; however, you must be very careful. You could destroy your whole pipe using this method. We recemtly purchased a product that allows you to plug both ends of the pipe, and fill the pipe with 60-90 psi of air pressure. You then take a propane torch and heat the dented area, and the dent slowly starts to come out. You may have to polish the pipe afterwards; however, we have found this method works very well. Use caution, as air and flame may not be a good combination, but hopefully safe enough to take out most of the dent. We offer two stroke pipe dent removal as a service. I would be happy to give you an estimate and fix your pipe for you. We would need to work out the shipping details and find out if your pipe has any holes in it. If the pipe requires any welding to repair holes, so that the air pressure may be properly applied the cost is slightly more, but reasonable. Please e-mail me anytime with any questions you may have.

Hmm, not a bad idea. Might rupture the tank though. :nenau

We've got liquid nitrogen at work, I suppose you could pour some in the dent and then stand well back as the dent pops back and sprays the liquid nitrogen everywhere? Sounds like fun. :D

Motorcycle tank dent removal - by Royal Mail Post?
You'll need it. :blast

take it to Kevin at KK cars in Colwick... he will fix it 'as new' for a very attractive price. He has a lot of experience and a lot of happy BMW customers (me included).

My tank wasn't as bad as that - but he fixed an 'in transit' dent - plus a slight bow. resprayed it (and the beak) all for £120 - which I consider a bargain.

Look up ' Beaver' at Stepmart
Near you at Heather

Brilliant at dents and paint
(Likes his bikes too, so knows how important the result is to peeps)

+1 :thumb2 good bloke.

So that method is not just for getting tyres to seat on rims then : )

Thanks Guys :thumb2

I've just rang Kevin at KK. I'm going to take the tank and other parts to him tomorrow. Hopefully he'll be able to repair the tank.

the tank was too far dented to do anything but fill it really, compressed air t blow it out is dangerouse, (trust me, i tried it, )
there were kinks in the dents, gotta use filler
just a dent is best treated with the heat gun and liguid oxygen treatment, pulls em out a treat

Just got back from K&K cars. £220 to repair the tank and paint tank, mudguards, side panels and S fairing.

Thanks Motobiker and Carl :beerjug:
