Just bought these pair of bulbs off Ebay and installed them on my '06 1200GS... what a difference!!!
After my standard bulb had gone, I decided to go for a bit of a brighter one. The choice was between a Philips power2night and the Mtec Superwhite. Online reviews said the Mtec "looked" better but the philips had better light... Since most of the roads are lit in the UK anyway, I opted for the Mtec bulb.
No problems fitting the little bugger, although getting it out the package is a bit harder... :augie
I'll get a picture of it next time I go out but let me tell you, you will be seen! Had a ride out with the lads at the weekend and even if they were a couple of cars ahead they said they could still see my light from behind! So additional safety is included there too...

I can only recommend this bulb!

Am I missing something here?

The bulb may be whiter and brighter - just like Persil - but it seems to me that it is simply a 12V, 55W, H7 bulb.

HID / Xenon is totally different technology. My 4 wheel motor has them and and I fitted a kit from this parish to my GS and they flash up and perform Very differently to normal bulbs.

ps - last headlamp bulb test I read in a car mag, AutoXpress I think, put Phillips top of the pile from those tested.

Its still a 55w bulb .... my basic understanding of Chinese on the box in the pic translates to roughly "these bulbs give much light as 100w"

They give a light 'temperature' of 4350k. HID are nearer to 6000k which is the 'temperature' of 'daylight'

The bottom line .... (and its on the box as the bottom line as well :augie )... its a Halogen Bulb.

Keep us posted as to how long the 'filament' lasts :rob

** for a bit of interest .... read this ??

I know that the above refers to H4, but the science will be the same H4/H7 or whatever!!

I'd be happy to go by the Auto Express bulb tests
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/230061/lightbulb_test.html

You don't need to spend silly money on exotic bulbs, like that waste of time PIAA Super White bulb I once bought

Bulb tests are all fine and dandy but as anyone who has fitted any of the aftermarket 'superbright' or 'performance' bulbs knows, the issue on a bike isn't how bright they are, it's how long they'll last- all too often, they pop after a fairly short time.

PS I wonder how many people have bought these 'hid' labelled bulbs thinking that they were actually getting HID.....a naughty bit of packaging and description I reckon :nono

I had a Chinese dentist in the past.................I phoned him to make an appointment and he said "tooth hurty?", I said that was too late and asked if I could come earlier !!!.

It all got a bit confusing after that :D :D

It also says HID on the packet, Im surprised it does not say Viagra too :thumb2
