LAST OF THE SUMMER WIND '08

Ok where is everybody?? Nobody posting anything EXCITING ? Is everybody hibernating for the Winter? I feel as deflated as a nadger's thingy.
I've been reading all the post's, but ' What do you put in your Tool Tube, or Pannier or do you have a Fuel Pump Controller' just doesn't get my blood racing. I had to do something, so I looked at that Sticky about Photo Hosting. Master Dabber and others thank you, thank you, thank you. It made me look at my digital photo's again, and it made me relive the tours all over again..Yes!!!
So seeing that I did the Italia 08 tour again later in the year on my own, I'm going to post a few of the photo's as a MOOD AID for those ( I'm now coming alive) days of Spring. ( The last word of the play on words of the Title is not the stuff that blows your hat off, but the short version of Winding that you do when you are Biking through a countryside that gives you a feeling of oneness with the Bike and let's you know that everything is right with the World.
    So here goes:

    CHECK IN AT DOVER

    WAITING FOR THE FERRY

THE SAME ROME CAMPSITE WE USED,BUT 100M. FURTHER IN, I WATCHED PEOPLE SCULLING ALONG THE TIBER WITH BREAKFAST,& BATS HUNTING INSECTS ON THE BANK,WITH MY LATE NIGHT COFFEE.

THE VIEW FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE SPANISH STEPS ROME.

    THE VIEW FROM THE TOP.

THE VIEW FROM McDONALDS OF THE PANTHEON.

THE VIEW FROM THE CAMPSITE OF FLORENCE.

PIAZZALE MICHELANGELO 5 mins. walk from the campsite.
IT'S ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE RIVER TO FLORENCE AND GIVES MAGNIFICENT VIEWS OF THE CITY. IN THE CENTRE IS A BRONZE STATUE OF 'DAVID'

STEPS LEADING FROM THE 'SQUARE' TO THE RIVER AND A BRIDGE INTO FLORENCE.

    MICHELANGELO'S TOMB IN THE CATHEDRAL.

THE 'ROAD' MY GPS SENT ME DOWN ON THE WAY TO THE AMALFI COAST. IT ENDED IN QUITE A STEEP SET OF STAIRS.OOOPS.

THE AMALFI COAST ROAD AS SEEN FROM A BOAT, LOOK CLOSELY YOU'LL SEE IT.

SOME BRIDGES ON THE COAST ROAD.

THE HOUSE THAT RUDOLF NUREYEV USE TO LIVE IN ON AN ISLAND OFF THE AMALFI COAST.

    POSITANO.

    ESPLANADE POSITANO.

    ST.ANDREWS CATHEDRAL IN AMALFI TOWN.

THE CAMPSITE JUST OUTSIDE SORRENTO. IF I STOOD UNDER MY AWNING I COULD SEE THE BAYS OF NAPLES & SORRENTO THROUGH THE TREES.

PHOTOGRAPH FROM THE ROAD OF SORRENTO BAY WITH AMERICAN CRUISE SHIP & VESUVIUS BEHIND.

    A MORE DEDICATED SHOT.

    VESUVIUS ON IT'S OWN.

OUTSIDE THE TRAIN STATION IN SORRENTO,& I THOUGHT I LOADED MY BIKE?

A FUNERAL IN SORRENTO THAT GETS A POLICE ESCORT,AND A TOSSER AT THAT.

THE HOTEL I STAYED IN, IN GARMISCH

C&A's IN WEISBADEN, DO WE STILL HAVE ANY IN THE UK?

I THINK THIS IS THE TOWN HALL IN WEISBADEN. NOBODY DOES, I LIVE IN A NICE CLEAN, PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY, SPACIOUSLY SETOUT,ARCHITECTURALLY
    INTERESTING TOWN LIKE THE GERMANS.

THE VEHICLE LIFT IN THE IBIS HOTEL WEISBADEN THAT WE HAD TO USE TO TAKE OUR VEHICLES IN, AS THE CAR PARK IS 2 LEVELS UNDER THE HOTEL.

WELL THAT'S IT FOR NOW... I FEEL MORE EXCITED ALREADY. KEN.

Will be carrying a spare after Flash's incident last year. You never know, it could even be useful for Bryn now he's come over to the dark side

Hi Monsieur, It's an Outwell Arizona L, I'ts a brilliant tent for 1 or 2 people if your staying in a place for a few days, plenty of room for 2 in the sleeping area and of course you can stand up in it, it also has plenty of room in the living area.It packs down to 800X250X320mm. I don't use it now because I am going minimalist. The Exxon Valdeze comments do hurt you know.Ken.

And so it should, especially now you've gone over to the Dark Side where you don't seem to know what things are for. Still there's still a few months to go to the trip so you'll be able to get your feet oops sorry your knee down.

As I now know a picture is worth a thousand words, So.......

The lower Ortleib behind the Backrest contains all the tenting stuff, the upper Ortleib has the table and chairs.

    Regards, Ken.
