The British Motorcycle Racing Club (BMCRC) will celebrate its 100th anniversary at Brands Hatch this weekend (18/19 April) with a centennial race meeting featuring a mixture of historic motorcycles and modern racing categories.

The BMCRC is the world's oldest motorcycle racing club and has nurtured the talent of many of the most successful riders in history including John Surtees, Barry Sheene, Mike Hailwood and 2007 MotoGP champion Casey Stoner.

"It's quite an achievement to think that a British racing club has been going strong for 100 years, and it is a privilege for me to be involved with the BMCRC," said Mike Dommett, CEO of the British Motorcycle Racing Club. "The majority of Britain's great motorcycle racers have been members during their early career and the club still thrives as a stepping stone to BSB."

This weekend, the club will commemorate its 100-year anniversary with a busy programme of over 30 races, along with historic bike parades and a display of modern and classic motorcycles. There will be racing from the likes of MRO Superteens, which sees youngsters between 12 and 18-years-old compete on 125cc machines, as well as the MRO Supersport and Stocksport 600cc classes, Open Sidecars and Open Rookies, which caters for stock bikes between 600 and 1000cc.

There will also be a post-racing celebration in the Kentagon restaurant on Saturday evening including a skiffle band and Courage beer on sale at 1909 prices - just 1p per pint!
