Problem updating iPhone software

No problem - so far.

I hope I'm not tempting fate either. The update worked faultlessly and easily last night (on a MAC).

So far so good. All I had to do was update two settings as per (I am on PAYG) http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/settings.html, and send a message to 1010, as per http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/mms.html

Overall the update is ok, some nice touches and the software has been well thought out, but I do think that Apple could have allowed the 3G version to access ALL the voice commands in the new OS. After all the hardware can support it. Mostly it looks like core functions that should have been there from the start.

sim PIN

Update no problem last night - all working fine.

But......I would recommend removing your sim PIN before updating - if you don't you'll get a message that the phone can't access the sim card.

If, like me, you left the sim PIN on, don't panic but just leave the phone to do it's thing and you'll get a chance to enter your PIN once the progress bar has fully loaded (which took a while).

First backup takes a while too (depending what you have on the phone).

O2 sent me a text message as soon as I had upgraded and 2 minutes later they had 'set up' MMS and texted (?) me an image.

Copy and paste is excellent.
