Mrs Big Lee has got a document thats in microsoft word and she needs to fill it in but when using openoffice it only comes up as a read only document. So what we need to know is if there is a way to configure openoffice to make it edit this document as word would or where to download word for free :D

Many thanks for any help :thumb2

I'm not convinced that's the issue, Lee. It sounds as if the MS Word document might be protected. I use Open Office to edit documents which have initially been saved in MS Word, all the time, without any problems.

Assuming you're using Windows, right click on the document, then select Properties. Under the General tab you will probably find that the Read-Only tick box is ticked. Click it to remove the read-only attribute then it can be edited.
