Now if you want is to fly the route. The file comes in under ‘PLACES’ left hand Column as a Temporary Place called ‘Mapsource’
Double click on Mapsource
Double Click on Route, The route appears with THREE dot symbol (pink)
Selecy your route by left Clicking on it once
At the bottom right of you can see another three dots (this time blue)
Click on thes to FLY YOUR ROUTE and away you go !!!!!!!!!!!
You can play around with the speed and settings etc as you wish

Been a while since anybody posted on this thread but can this sort of thing be done with a tomtom go510? Ie plot a route on google maps or other and then export to the sat nav ? I guess it would put it as a list of wAypoints?

you can use google maps for almost anything garmin related, you may need to use other freely available software with certain things you may want to do, but its mostly straghtforward. You can transfer routes, you can transfer coordinates to use and save as favourites or waypoints and many more things, the information is all freely available if you search google for it. for instance you have found a spot to camp or a hotel on GM but cant find it in mapsource or base camp, on google maps just left mouse click on the spot then right click and select the whats here, you will then see a set of coordinates pop up left click on the coordinates and they will show in the search box in GM, copy and paste these into the locate coordinates box in basecamp and then save as a waypoint you can then rename it to whatever you wish. as i said all this info is freely available it just takes a little time and effort to find it and then learn how to do it, much the same as learning how to use basecamp and your device.
These instructions apply to PC and may differ using a Mac.

You can also use the above method of copy and paste coordinates when using booking.com because they tend to list the coordinates of the hotels.
