The UKGSer Ireland spring weekend in 2010 will be a departure from the usual kind of do in almost every way. We are going to try something completely different this time.
This is how it will work;
You will be given a location to go to on the Friday afternoon, name address and GPS waypoint.
On arrival you will be given details of the Friday overnight accommodation. We will provide a route for you to take which will have good roads, scenic views or places of interest along the way. You can follow our suggestion or take a route of your own choosing, stopping for your dinner on the way or having a meal at the hotel.
After breakfast on Saturday morning you will be given details of the first "checkpoint" of the day. It's only when you arrive at that location that you will be directed to the next. There may be two or three of these "checkpoints" during the day, but at the last one you will be given the details of where you will be spending Saturday night. Again, you can follow the suggested routes or do your own thing, so long as you arrive at the checkpoints to discover your next instructions.
The emphasis will be on riding your bike over the weekend through parts of Ireland you might not otherwise get to see. You can ride on your own, in pairs or larger groups, it's up to you. Set your own pace, stop where you like, have lunch where and when you want, then meet up with everyone else in the evening for a few drinks and the craic.
There will be no group evening meal either night, nor a raffle but there might well be stickers.
Some of the finer details have yet to be finalised and it is likely that we will have to take deposits in advance to secure your accommodation, but more of that later.
Right, who's up for it?
