non franchise servicing

every main dealer is obliged to send there mechanic on the franchise maintanence course)if a car comes in with something we cant solve we hand it over to said dealer with customer permission.

So this maintenence course is where they learn not to waste time on trivial things such as air and fuel filter replacement and instead spend time on important things like greasing the wheel studs before over tightening them with an air gun.

At least the other halfs car is out of warranty now and it will get serviced properly by myself from now on.

[Oh the irony......

I've been practicing I'll hae sheets and aw stuff to do for the BnB

Sir James will be popping round to give me some lessons on the lifestyle skills:thumb2

:sleep:fiddle
sorry but i work as a mechanic for a main dealer and ok its not bikes its cars i feel i have a point here, we service/MOT any make of car. we have a competitive price for non franchise cars that come in (its called business), in turn this is because when you take your BEEMER to a BMW main dealer you get your bike serviced by a BMW trained mechanic, they specialise in bmw not HONDA not SUZUKI not KAWASAKI, this is the same for us, we are trained by our specific company to deal with specific problems (ok some have experience with other marquees but every main dealer is obliged to send there mechanic on the franchise maintanence course)if a car comes in with something we cant solve we hand it over to said dealer with customer permission.

Wow. What a co-incidence. Another newbie from Edinburgh who happens to work for BMW

Two newbies all in one thread. What's the chances that they have the same IP address? :augie

Be interesting to see it either of "them" posts anything else in the future.

no need to do anything, a bunch of new folks are having a useful conversation about this subject, I'll leave others to form a view about the veracity of these tales and whether it enriches the dealer experience....:thumb

as for me, I'm glad MCE have an MOT centre, not far for me to travel....:beerjug:

likewise, I've had MOT and servicing done at the other dealers in Edinburgh in the past, (Two Wheels and at Calum's previous businesses, Alvins and so on, it's all good in my book, I have had nothing to complain about to be honest.....:type

Given that you work for MFI, your lack of cyncism is noteworthy :D

they have 3 technicians that have an immense pool of knowledge for bmw, honda, suzuki, kawasaki, yamaha and triumph.
the big plus was they do a keener labour charge for non bmw repairs

plus????/
charge the bm owners, cos they look like they may have the money, and service the usually more difficult(but more common) and time consuming jap stuff cheaper?
nice

servicing

The tone of your replies to honest questions, may be doing more harm to your employer in Dalkieth's promotion than good:augie

Great first post and introduction to the site:beerjug:

Maybe you should become a site sponsor to sell your wares or just log in under your Motorrad central username and advertise in the dealers section. If your employer lets you that is

interesting concept - not
point being missed
trying to offer a viable alternative - an opinion/experience not a sales pitch
not the only one with something to say - dealships are not the exclusive right of that particular badge owner - open to all

Rather than coming over all bumptious start again explain properly and give us your pricing structure and why you would offer better service than a franchised dealer:thumb2

I.E.

Hourly rate for a Suzuki
Your hourly rate for BMW

Are you cheaper than your competitors
Should Avuss charge more to service a Bmw than a KTM:nenau

Good to see your putting in some effort:clap

You do your servicing in a tent?

He must do a lot of canvassing for the business :augie

Anyway, I think we get the idea, 7wmw7: you thought you'd pop in here, drum up a bit of free advertising for your employers but make out that you were trying to do us a big favour.

Thanks but (personally) no thanks. I know a very good independent spanner chappie who looks after my bike.

i think its a pisstake you want us to use you, but you charge us more because of the badge on the tank, ,anyway youve got some free advertising, (non subscribers shouldnt be allowed to advertise, ),
shame its not what you wanted

must admit though, it's no been the same since the sexy blonde bint left :D
