Can anyone post the default channel frequencies and QT/DQT codes?

Greg

Don't all rush

Ch2 446.01875 CH Spacing Narrow 0 Tone (Hz)

Ch4 446.04375 CH Spacing Narrow 107.2 Tone (Hz)
Ch5 446.05625 CH Spacing Narrow 110.9 Tone (Hz)
Ch6 446.06875 CH Spacing Narrow 114.8 Tone (Hz)
Ch7 446.08125 CH Spacing Narrow 118.8 Tone (Hz)
Ch8 446.09375 CH Spacing Narrow 123.0 Tone (Hz)
Ch9 446.00625 CH Spacing Narrow 127.3 Tone (Hz)
Ch10 446.01875 CH Spacing Narrow 131.8 Tone (Hz)
Ch11 446.03125 CH Spacing Narrow 136.5 Tone (Hz)
Ch12 446.04375 CH Spacing Narrow 141.3 Tone (Hz)
Ch13 446.05625 CH Spacing Narrow 146.2 Tone (Hz)

Ch15 446.08125 CH Spacing Narrow 156.7 Tone (Hz)
Ch16 Auto Scan

As for QT/DQT = WTF

Also bear in mind these are the DEFAULT settings and they are different to ones 'doctored' by Autocom, identified by their 'Dealer Settings' Label inside the radio.

And no I don't know what they do or what frequency shift takes place :(

Cheers Andy! This may prevent a well-known tosser of this parish getting lost in Poland!

I rang Autocom who said that they don't actually change anything (but that does beg the question of whym they stick a label on!).

QT = Quiet Talk (I assume as in 'Psst ... on the QT')
DQT = Digital Quiet Talk

It says here: "QT and DQT are functions that reject signals from undersired persons [guess who?] that are using the same channel as you. A QT tone or DQT code is programmed at the factory in each of the channels. After selecting a channel, you will hear audio from the speaker only when you receive a signal that contains the matched code. "

Now you know!

Greg HAS YOUR RADIO GOT A STICKER SAYING dealers settings on the back.

Most people (me included) have got a Kenwood TK-3101

I rang Cyrstal Radio today about this and they said look in hand book at scanning bit, switch on both radios to same channel, press button below talk button.

Lock yourself away for 10 minutes in a room, and BINGO.

Erm not sure I do Greg  I have four radios 2 Kenwoods (TK3101) and 2 Icoms F22SR mine were all Autocom supplied.

Phil Reynolds bought two Icoms from Crystal and neither would communicate with mine until we went to Autocom and they 'did something'.

Fanum's non Autocom supplied Kenwood would not talk to my Icoms at the weekend and Bake's new Crystal Radio supplied Icom also wouldn't talk his Autocom suplied kit.

Luckily I had a few spares on me :D

Sooo if they don't do anything who does

You've sent that twice!

I sent Fanum all the guff on how to reprogramme his TK-3101. The TK-3101 default settings are:

  1. 446.00625MHz QT10 (98.8Hz)
  2. 446.09375MHz QT8 (88.5Hz)
  3. 446.03125MHz QT13 (103.5Hz)
  4. 446.06875MHz QT5 (79.7Hz)
  5. 446.04375MHz QT17 (118.8Hz)
  6. 446.01875MHz QT18 (123.0Hz)
  7. 446.08125MHz QT19 (127.3Hz)
  8. 446.05625MHz QT7 (85.45Hz)
  9. 446.00625MHz QT14 (107.2Hz)
  10. 446.09375MHz QT15 (110.9Hz)
  11. 446.03125MHz QT16 (114.8Hz)
  12. 446.06875MHz QT6 (82.5Hz)
  13. 446.04375MHz DQT27 (123N)
  14. 446.01875MHz DQT28 (155N)
  15. 446.05625MHz DQT27 (134N)
    [/list=1]

Where do we go from here?

are you on about tone squelch by any chance ?

I dunno!

What I'd like is to be able to communicate between my TK-3101 on a channel that uses Digital Quiet Talk (DQT) ie 13, 14 or 15 and someone using an Icom F22SR.

Anyone know how to do that? Can it be done at all?

Has anyone asked the clever people at Crystal Radio?

Reading further from my manual it seems I can assign any one of 83 DTCS codes to any of channels 1 to 15 and I can Inverse them too

There is amongst the 83 codes a '155' and a '134' but no '123'

So WTF does that mean?

And when you've digested that I've got 52 CTCSS codes which allow silent standby operation and private operation between radios in the same group

For Channel 13 on the Kenwood, the manual says '123N' on one page and '132N' on another.

Does the Icom offer a 132N?

Greg

I've just rung Kenwood in Watford. They say they have sold millions of the 3101 radios and nobody has spotted the misprunt in their manual.

Andy, can you get Bakes' radio to match the Kenwood Channel 13?

How long do you think my arms are? :D If his radio made it to North Kent on the way to Dover I'll give it a go.

If I'm getting this at all he would use channel 12 which is frequency 446.04375Mhz sames as you Kenwoood's Ch13 then prorgram it with DTCS code 132 and inverse it

tone squelch is a system where the squelch only opens when it receives a sub audible tone
ie: you can wait silently for calls from someone using the same tone, your unit will ignore any traffic it picks up that doesn't transmitt the tone.

hope this helps in understanding
