ROMANIA

Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and Croatia

Hi Panman,

I can back from Syria through Greece etc.

The roads and traffic were not the worst we saw. the best advice is to get isurance cover for as many countries as possible. BMW don't cover any except EU and Croatia. Its expensive and slow to purchase at each border. Turkey was cheap.

Check with your insurer.

The countryside is brilliant. The roads outstanding and scary. Try travelling from Elbasan to Tirane. Some of the most involving and scary roads I have travelled.

FYI Slovenia also has a vignette system for motorways, but it is not well enforced:augie
The crossing point at <http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Palmyra,+Syria&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=13.962144,32.915039&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Palmyra,+Homs+Governorate,+Syria&ll=42.016345,19.373183&spn=0.00214,0.004018&t=h&z=18> is good as its a single building. Not too busy and quite friendly.

Recommend Mali Ston in Croatia. Beautiful historic village and centre of the Oyster farms in that area. The coast road just perfect.

regards,

Path.
