UVEX enduro carbon issue

The standard enduro is by far a superior lid compared to the carbon. I suspect that UVEX may have cut corners with the carbon version to keep the retail price to an acceptable level. Talking of price, I paid £170 including postage for the standard version :D, so even if the visor mists up (Which I hope it won't) I'm prepared to put up with it because I think this lid is great value for money.....I've got some fog tech just in case

Well I have to agree that i to love the UVEX helmet mine as you know has gone back again (helemt no3 carbon) but i am awaiting their last response. Tomorrow i am on bike and will be wearing my Aria RAMII open face! cos i ain't got any other full face lids. (Brrrrr hope its not to cold):augie

I dont agree with the ratchet type fastener i myself much prefer double D rings,:thumb

"One Question is the strap as long on the std helmet as it was on the your carbon? Cos unlike Aria who i always have to ask to refit a longer strap UVEX was great on carbon model for leangh"

and i can see that the interior is not as nice as the carbon model so maybe the standard helemt is also built to reflect costs. All that said it may well wind up being my choice "Lets see" as i dont like the Aria tour x or the Shoie

i wll let you know my final outcome soon..........

ride safe

No worries mate :thumb The lining is exactly the same as the carbon lid, just a different colour...The straps are more than long enough in adjustment to suit anyone.

I prefer the ratchet system as it's easy to get the lid on and off without removing gloves every time :thumb

Can anyone who has one of these lids tell me what internal shape they have?
ie. long oval or round?

Thanks!!

Hard to say really. I have more of a round head (cue the jokes!) If it helps any more, I have quite a Shoei shaped head...

got this lid in August and it was quite simply the best lid I ever owned. Since the crap weather has come, it's been the worst helmet I've ever owned.

The visor doesn't create a good seal with the helmet. Rain water gets pushed in, and the visor mists up really bad even though it has the nanotech coating inside...

I've got an ongoing issue with the distributor at the moment and am seeking a replacement. My lid has already been back to UVEX for them to 'repair' it, but it didn't sort the problem out.

Not impressed. For a lid that costs nearly £500, I'd expect it to do what it says on the tin, but it doesn't.

If you're thinking of getting one....beware!

Hi.
Well Finally today after lots of work from Chris & Matt at Smart Riders, and John at Tranam I got my replcement number 3 Uvex Carbon Enduro Helmet.
I f you have been reading the notes on this thread you will I guess have been put off somewhat regarding the UVEX Carbon lid..?

Well I have just had a blast round and the visor issue has gone! For the first time in the three helmets the visor clicks when you close it onto the seal, it is very positive and does close as they say with a slight press on the visor about nose level! (no pun about nose leanghs please:augie )

The problem re visor fogging up "yes I have been breathing with it closed like a Porn Star! and no fogging" I tried it straight cold and later after being in a cafe, hot room still no fogging,:thumb so I hope I am not shooting myself in the foot but it seems GREAT!:thumb

I have persivered with the helmet issues and can only say thank's to Smart Riders and "Well Done" if UVEX can get these helmets out regular like this there will be no prob's. Its a great looking helmet and very comfy. Light and I have always liked it but have always asked for it to be FFP.....

I just hope it stays like this no reason why it should not. I will keep Smart Riders informed.

Nice one Derek :thumb Glad you got it sorted :D FWIW, I'm chuffed to bits with the standard lid too.

Happy days...

Derek, give us an update on how your visor is getting on?

Aup There Stevie,

Can't give you any news yet as only had a quick blast on bike, been doing all kinds of things and not used bike's much. Plus i am a cold nesh wimp and really want a bit more of the spring weather to come first. But I will keep you posted.

Cheers Derek.

I called Smart Riders today to enquire about a clear lens. really nice guy on the phone and we had a good chat about the Uvex visor issues. Cut a long story short, I want a visor that has a fog city insert in it for use in the wet, and a normal visor for all other occasions. Might be a pain carrying an extra visor on tours, but hey ho...Problem is the Uvex visor has the special coating (which doesn't work in my experience) meaning an insert is no use, and neither are any other solutions. BUT!!!! You can remove the coating with window cleaner :D:D I did it tonight, and applied some fog city to the cleaned lens.... Result? no misting!!:thumb:thumb so I don't even need an insert...

If you're gonna take the Uvex coating off, I found the best way to do it is to take some kitchen paper/towels, lay them on the inside of the visor, and spray a load of window cleaner onto the paper so that it's soaked. Press the paper onto the visor and leave it for half an hour. It takes a while, but the Uvex coating comes away if you scrape gently with your nail. Be careful not to press too hard or you'll scratch the visor. If your lucky, a lot of the coating may simply peel away.
