I don't understand this issue with blue lights! :nenau

Every day I see lorries and white vans with blue lights on the front. In fact some lorries have four, five or even six blue lights along the front of their cab.

If its illegal why dont the cops pull these guys?

While they're at it why don't they pull the hundreds of cars with defective lights?

Moan, moan, moan... :blagblah :blagblah :blagblah

The reason they don't get pulled is because instead traffic cops on the roads, we have safety cameras.

I pull 'em all the time! :D

The issue with blue lights, is that a good many people (not all I agree) that put them on the front of their bike / car / van / truck are doing it so that other motorists think they might be Old Bill and while the punter is trying to make their mind up, the aforementioned blue lamp wannabe uses the moment of opportunity / confusion to take advantage, be it for an overtake that wouldn't have been there otherwise or whatever.

The other thing is that blue lights still (just about) get people's attention, which is the whole idea when an emergency service vehicle is trying to make progress to an emergency! The more people who are swanning around with blue coloured light on their motors, the more it dilutes the effect.

Look at amber warning beacons. There's so many about nowadays that nobody takes any notice of them anymore!

I think that the whole business of having silly coloured lights on a vehicle, be it a bike, car, truck or whatever needs sorting out and the lighting regs updated to take account of things that weren't even thought of when they were written. There's a really simple rule for the back of a vehicle, "No light shall be shown to the rear other than an red light (with specific exemptions)"

Why Oh Why, can't they have the same for the front? "No light other than a white light to the front".

Simples!!!!

Away from the legalities (we're all big boys so make your own decision) and back to the product....
Did I read correct, that they're not totally waterproof and ingress is a problem over time?

I got busted on holiday for having blue lights at the front...Austria...cost me 26 Euro on the spot...and a photo of them cuffing me at the request of my fecking 'mates' behind :blast

How nice to hear from a seller direct instead of hiding behind a website. More power to your elbow, Dan.

Hi

A few of our earlier Bullets that got used throughout winter had some water ingress problems... but we are constantly improving things, and all the latest units have be soaked in Acrylic which (according to my test bikes), appears to of solved that one.

It's always hard to predict how XYZ design works out when subjected to the abuse from being mounted on a bike (200mph rain drops are pretty powerful at penetrating most designs)

Everything we sell is under warranty though, and the second I hear about a single faulty Pod, I send a complete set out free of charge.

Yes you did, I've gone through 2 sets & would recommend placing/gluing some acylic onto the front of them were ever you install them. To help stop or reduce the worry of water ingress.

I've just fitted a couple of sets to my bike, I'm thinking of clear varnish over the front. Anyone any thoughts??

Fitted some to my GT a couple of days ago. Didn't want to drill my fairing so found some little brackets to use. The brackets can easily be changed if I find something that looks a bit better. Mine looked like they already had an acrylic coating on to stop water ingress. We shall see.

You cannot get a better service then that ANYWHERE.:thumb

Just fitted mine.. I stuck them on the touratech handguard deflectors and wired direct to the side light.. No warnings .. looks good with the hid...

I think you'll find Flashin lights on the rear are illegal on motorsied vehicles .

Steve

Flashing rear red lights on a motorised vehicle are illegal but if you make them flash then go solid after a few times it would be a right bastard that would do you for it. My Volvo S80 flashes the brake lights if it deems it necessary (speed compared to amount of braking etc) and as far as I know Volvo haven't been prosecuted? But then again they are EU approved and that law takes precedence over UK law, I think.

Hmm, I just fitted brake/tail/indicator LEDs and a modulator (which flashes for 1 sec then goes solid). Not been pulled yet, but then I only fitted them yesterday. the indicators have a strip of stop/tail LEDs as well - I have to say they are very attention grabbing - I have a morbid dread of being shunted from the rear.
