Five of us made the ride.

Unfortunately Dave Emsley had a minor fall - such an easy lane too!

A great days riding, thanks for leading Greg. :clap

By 08.45hrs yesterday, just five of us had gathered in the carpark of The Hand. We were:

  1. the lost soul - DR-Z
  2. Dave Emsley - G450X
  3. Bushpig - 450EXC
  4. strobingred - KTM 400EXC
  5. Greg - Husaberg

Our first run took us down Heartbreak Hill - fecking steep, fecking slippery and a fecking great drop at the end (which, I have to confess, I walked my bike down :blast)

We then had a road ride to Llanarmon where we saw 3 GSs in a hotel called The Hand. We figured that they had checked into the wrong hotel but a quick work confirmed that they had nothing to do with UKGSer. But how spooky is that??

After a couple of hours we rode up this lane ....

... to meet Timpo's motley crew coming in the other direction. So a 5 minute break was had with a quick bollox exchange.

Then the bombhole...

Shortly after that, I found that my bike was cutting out in big puddles, so I stopped and changed the plug (which I now suspect has an intermittent fault). The bike ran faultlessly after that.

Dave then came a cropper in a small hippo bath:

Others rushed <strike>to his assistance</strike> for their cameras ....

Dave tries to more firmly plant his bike:

We then rode back to Heartbreak Hill with the intention of riding up it. The Lost Soul (on a borrowed bike), was first up....

Or maybe not ....

Bushpig's efforts resulted in a snakebite. The lads set to to change the tube ...

... whilst others carefully supervise the operation:

But it's all for naught as the new tube is also pinched:

So Bushpig rides back to The Hand with a flat front.

Thanks for the company guys - a great day!!

I have fond memories of that "hippo hole" from the march moon weekend lifting a big 950 ktm out which came to a sudden stop when ridden by a hulk from Australia:eek:
