I'm trying without success to locate a heavy duty rear inner tube for my 2009 Tenere.

I need a 130/80-17 and so far have found only 120/80-17 and 140/80-17. Would either of these work, if so which? :)

I think that they would both be OK - but if I had a choice, I would use the smaller size.

Yep...both would do

I'd do the opposite though, use the larger one.....I have zero reason (or experience) for this, apart from that my gut feeling says that an over inflated one is going to be stretched thinner/may be more likely to burst than one that is not expanded as fully as it could be. (Obviously, constrained by the tyre, it's still going to get to full pressure, and with the minimal difference, it's not going to stay wrinkled inside or anything :nenau)

Use the 120, it'll be fine. I use 120's in a 140 tyre with never a problem.

Use smaller one The reason for this is that a bigger one might crease and create a weakness whare a slightly smaller one will only have to strech a little bit. JJH
